Dr. E recently visited Armstrong Woods State Natural Reserve in Northern California—a protected redwood forest where what looks like a narrow footpath is actually a road that fits a car, dwarfed by the towering trees on either side. These ancient trees remind us how much can be preserved when people act with care and conviction.

This 800-acre park was first protected in the 1800s by Colonel Armstrong and later preserved thanks to his daughter’s powerful grassroots campaign. In 1917, their efforts became official with the creation of a regional park that still welcomes visitors from around the world.
Dr. E left with renewed awe, and a reminder that poison oak doesn’t always stay on the trail. Thankfully, our Natural EcoBalance Cleanser removed most of the oils from her hands… though a missed spot on her back led to an uninvited souvenir. (Even scientists get humbled by nature sometimes.)
